NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 Update for 316/316L, 6MOPipe and 316/316L FK Fittings
Change effective date: May 2022
Updates have been made to the NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 International Standard: tables A.4 and A.11 for 316/316L Stainless Steel and 6-Moly fitting materials, enabling increased product availability. Effective immediately, Swagelok stainless steel and 6-moly pipe and medium-pressure FK fittings produced using material in the cold-drawn condition will be NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 compliant
Standard 316/316L stainless steel pipe and medium-pressure FK fittings now comply with NACE MR017MSO 15156 table A.4, Environmental and materials limits for austenitic stainless steels used in surface applications as instrument tubing, control-line tubing, associated compression and threaded fittings, and screen devices. No special designator is required.
- If a customer requires a 316/316L stainless steel medium-pressure FK fitting to comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 Table A.2, Environmental and materials limits for austenitic stainless steels used for any equipment or components, the -SG2 designator still must be added to the ordering number. Example: SS-4FK0-1-4-SG2.
- If a customer requires a 316/316L stainless steel pipe fitting to comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 Table A.2, Environmental and materials limits for austenitic stainless steels used for any equipment or components, the -SG designator still must be added to the ordering number. Example: S5-4-HN-SG.
Standard 6-moly pipe fittings now comply with NACE MR0175/ISO 15156 table A.11, Environmental and materials limits for highly alloyed austenitic stainless steels used as instrument tubing, control-line tubing, associated compression and threaded fittings, and surface and downhole screen devices. No special designator is required.
- If a customer requires a 6-moly pipe fitting to comply with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 Table A,8, Environmental and materials limits for highly alloyed austenitic stainless steels used for any equipment or components, the -SG2 designator still must be added to the ordering number. Example: 6M0-4-HN-SG2.
The above changes were driven by Technical Circular ISO 15156-3:2020/Cir.1 :2021 (E), Petroleum and natural gas industries - Materials for use in H2S-containing environments in oil and gas production - Part 3: Cracking-resistant CRAs (corrosion-resistant alloys) and other alloys.
